If you don’t already know Lisa Consiglio Ryan, you should! Lisa and I were in Marie Forleo’s Rich, Happy And Hot Adventure Mastermind last year and she’s the owner of Whole Health Designs, an amazing health coach, entrepreneur and designer of her successful Fall 2011, Winter 2011 and now her Spring Renewal Detox Program for 2012.
I’ve snagged her into sitting down to do a short, 5-question interview with me today. Here is the interview where you get to find out what Lisa and her Spring Detox Program are all about.
Soooooo, Lisa! Thanks for joining me today!
1. Tell us a little bit about your background.
I was an elementary school teacher (my favorite grade to teach was 1st!) for about 15 years before becoming a health coach. I founded my practice, Whole Health Designs in 2010. It has evolved into my focus on active moms who want to embrace “clean living” which is mainly eating more whole foods and providing healthy meals for their families. They also want to bring healthy lifestyle into the mix.
2. Tell us how Spring Cleanse came about.
My detox programs are specific to 10 days and for those who want a planned menu. This all came about during my first month of business when I taught a Detox 101 class at Whole foods. It was sold out, and I connected that many people are willing to take the steps for a healthier lifestyle.
So I devised a detox set plan for busy people where each day is spelled out for them, such as Day 1: breakfast: smoothie, snack, veggies and hummus, lunch: quinoa dish, snack: apple with almond butter, dinner: red pepper soup.
This resembled what I would introduce to my private clients because they just wanted things spelled out, and they didn’t want to experiment because they knew they wouldn’t do it. My tribe wasn’t into that at all and wanted a set plan, so that is now how I run my detox programs now. With recipes, FAQs, detox journal, return to life packet, guest experts. Lots of support and goodies!
3. Tell us why it’s important to cleanse.
Over the past 60 years or so, we have seen a tremendous increase in the use of chemicals in all types of industry, including factory farming. This has brought with it a bunch of toxins. Pesticides and herbicides were virtually unknown 70 years ago are now widely used on our crops. Despite the fact that most of us are fastidious about cleaning our homes, cars, clothes and so on, few of us pay attention to cleaning ourselves-on the inside, that is.
Over the years, the debris of everyday toxins accumulates in your blood, liver, lungs, gut, and in fact in your body’s cells. We become acidic, imbalanced within our blood. This leads to inflammation, and therefore, chronic disease. It is so important to cleanse, at least seasonally to help your body get back to a balance and stay healthy to ward off any illness. Also, detox can help you obtain some long-term habits that you can keep with you for life.
4. Tell us what people will get from this program.
Spring Renewal is a 10 day plan that addresses nutrition, moving your body, cleansing your mind, and breathing and journaling. Spring Renewal detox lovelies get a set of menus, shopping list, recipes plus all the ins and outs on how to have a successful detox. It’s not just about the food; I include tips on how to meditate, stretch, even clean out your pantry so that you can continue reaching health goals well after the detox is over.
5. Tell us anything else you’d like us to add!
That I can’t believe I get to do what I just love everyday! I still get to teach, and for me, teaching about nutrition is just plain fun. I love to see how everyone’s takeaways from the cleanses are so different, so transformational. Getting the word out about “clean living” and how easy it can be is so amazing.
